Employee Spotlight-Sean Tafoya

This month's employee spotlight is Sean Tafoya. Sean joined CNI in February 2022, overseeing a portfolio of business with executive management responsibilities, including profit and loss, strategic planning, and productivity. He leads a team of senior leaders dedicated to meeting organizational goals and driving business development.

Sean’s greatest inspiration is his wife, whose unwavering support carried him through a 20-year Army career and 17 years post-retirement. Her resilience and strength have been a constant source of motivation for him.

For those starting their careers, Sean advises embracing a growth mindset—remaining open to learning and adapting. This outlook has helped him navigate challenges, like collaborating with customers who may not fully understand the business. By simplifying complex ideas and creating helpful resources, he fosters a productive environment.

Known for staying calm under pressure, Sean believes a composed demeanor helps him and his team navigate challenges. He stays motivated by setting clear goals, breaking down tasks, and celebrating successes, all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Sean’s key successes include his 35-year marriage, his 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, and leading a team committed to the our mission to build a business that supports a Nation. Within CNI, he’s inspired by contract employees and business partners who consistently go above and beyond.

Beyond work, Sean’s passion for skiing goes back to his youth as a ski racer and later as a ski instructor. His time in the Army’s cold weather training cadre enhanced his skills and love for the sport, which continues to shape his discipline and resilience.
