The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the public presence and the dissemination point for worldwide public health education and information. The CDC facilities are digital and High-Definition (HD) broadcast, and graphic production and distribution facilities. These services utilize broadcast, satellite, videotape, web and computer-based delivery, while embracing emerging technologies for CDC Centers, Institutes and offices.
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for making eye-catching and persuasive designs that target
consumers, likely for a product or marketing campaign.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Designer is organized and detailed-oriented and manages multiple projects simultaneously in a creative, collaborative and fast-paced environment with other creative members, senior management and support teams, ensuring all creative projects are delivered on time, on budget, on strategy and with brand consistency.
Creates a visual brand for new and existing events – from initial logo and brand specifications through execution across multiple channels.
Responsible for designing both print and digital assets including event collateral, merchandise, presentations, stage set, signage, digital signage, banners, booth displays, website, mobile app, social media and more.
Performs print production tasks, including layout and design, retouching/editing photographs, proofing, making corrections, preparing final files and uploading for print.
Uses experience to lead/guide designers on projects as needed.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Must have a strong sense of design, an eye for detail and the ability to create distinct graphics that support, enhance and communicate the vision and message of clients to their event audiences.
Skilled proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel Outlook, Project, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to develop and apply comprehensive solutions to client requirements/issues.
Knowledgeable in color illustration in order to create custom designs.
Skilled in facilitating teamwork and coordinating efforts for the successful achievement of goals.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with solid presentation skills.
Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.
Ability to implement a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to interact professionally with team members, corporate management, and clients of all levels.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
