Chickasaw Management Services Wins CDC Contract

Chickasaw Management Services, LLC (CMS) has been awarded a $1 million contract with the David J. Sencer CDC Museum to provide necessary services to document the CDC’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the contract, CMS will bring the story of CDC’s role and impact to a broader audience through:

  • Conducting and preserving oral histories of selected CDC key individuals and responders in the U.S. and around the world
  • Creating a permanent exhibit to be incorporated into the Story of CDC to outline the timeline and challenges of the COVID-19 global pandemic and provide examples of CDC’s role in preventing and controlling the disease
  • Creating a major temporary exhibit that investigates in-depth the COVID-19 pandemic and the global response, and translating the exhibit into a 3D, online experience, collaborating with Georgia State University and Emory University.

In addition, CMS will help to educate middle and high school students, using the pandemic as a springboard to increase understanding of the value of public health and the CDC’s work in disease prevention and control, create and implement STEM materials for middle and high school levels to educate and support public understanding of the complexity of CDC’s COVID-19 response.

The five-year contract, which begins in September 2020, will allow CMS to depict a complete picture of CDC’s work with COVID-19, on ongoing pandemic of public health importance. There is a vital need to formally document, through a dedicated oral history program, and permanent, temporary, and online exhibits, CDC’s COVID-19 efforts, with an eye towards accurate public health and CDC history, and lessons learned.
