Microsoft Intune Engineer

The Microsoft Intune Engineer is responsible for the deployment of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) to meet Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) requirements, the migration to Microsoft Defender Antivirus (MDAV), and broader adoption of Microsoft Intune as the central platform for endpoint configuration and compliance. The Intune Engineer will assist in establishing centralized but flexible endpoint management, this work will help NIH maintain secure digital workspaces for researchers, clinicians, and administrators, regardless of location or device.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • The ability to obtain, maintain and access classified information at the Public Trust level. 

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience supporting endpoint and enterprise security management.

  • Minimum of two (2) years proven experience in designing and implementing Microsoft Intune.

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate or similar certification preferred.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.   

  • Supports the creation of an enterprise rollout strategy by assisting in the development of detailed project plans for Intune workstreams including identification of the transition roadmap from legacy endpoint management tools.

  • Designs architecture to utilize Intune as a centralized endpoint management tool for the Enterprise.

  • Enrolls workstations and servers into Microsoft Intune.

  • Configures device compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application baselines.

  • Establishes configuration and compliance baselines for Windows endpoints.

  • Develops a secure, role-based access model that allows ICs to manage their own devices while maintaining centralized oversight

  • Reduce dependency on legacy endpoint tools.

  • Implements role-based access controls (RBAC) for decentralized IC administration.

  • Provides scripting and automation support for bulk onboarding using GPO, Company Portal, or Autopilot.

  • Integrates Intune enrollment workflows into a hybrid AD/AAD environment.

  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or related field from an accredited educational institution.

Minimum of five (5) years experience supporting endpoint and enterprise security management. Minimum of two (2) years proven experience in designing and implementing Microsoft Intune.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $94K to $115K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
