Overview:

The Junior Field Engineer (JR FE) is responsible for supporting installation of equipment in support of the US Marine Corps Modernization Effort at Quantico. The JR FE is part of a dedicated onsite team which will support the movement, organization and/or installation of Telecom equipment in accordance with the approved design.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to pass a background check for access to facilities, equipment and property.

  • Domestic travel to multiple sites in and around Quantico, Virginia will be required. 

  • Ability to work after hours and on weekends in support of project requirements on occasional basis is requested to meet project deadlines. 

  • Time management skills with ability to receive instructions and accurately complete assignments in a timely manner. 

  • Ability to work well with others in various settings (i.e., peers, customers, supervisors, etc.). 

  • Ability to follow technical orders, manufacturer’s specifications and standard trade methods. 

  • Ability to implement and follow all safety and emergency procedures. 

  • Ability to work under supervision as a team member on projects, as assigned. 

  • Ability to work effectively under supervision, both individually and in a team environment. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Supports the movement, organization, tracking and installation of telecommunications equipment in the base under the direction of the On-Site Project Manager.  

  • Assists with inventory control, noting at risk levels when appropriate. 

  • Assists with organizing and labeling equipment at the direction of the On-Site Project Manager, using established protocols and processes. 

  • Supports tracking equipment serial numbers and MAC addresses by building and location within a building when necessary. 

  • Supports with the preparation of equipment and any necessary peripheral items for end user building deployment in the warehouse.

  • Assists in organizing work orders to ensure they are accurate and complete for use in cutover preparation and completion.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma required.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical ability to stand and or walk frequently. May climb on a ladder or scaffolding to heights in excess of 10’. Bend/stoop, push/pull and work above the shoulder frequently. Occasionally balance, kneel, crouch, and squat. May carry up to 25 pounds of weight distances of up to 50 feet at a time, occasionally up to and including 50 pounds of weight distances of 5’ and rarely up to 50 pounds distances of 25’. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds of weight from the floor to the waist. This weight will be constituted by the following items, but not limited to them: tools, toolboxes and tool bags, ladders,  supplies and equipment. Movement of materials will sometimes be done in a warehouse or storage container that does not have air conditioning. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
