Production Control Technician

The Product Control Technician creates 'work order masters' from engineering drawings for all manufactured parts produced in the plant. The role includes updating the master schedule for all shippable manufactured and purchased parts and adjusting work order information accordingly. Additionally, the position involves creating rework work orders when needed and collaborating with the engineering department to resolve issues or answer questions regarding layout, standard, and job-specific detail drawings.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to pass a background test.

  • Must be able to pass a drug test.

  • Read engineering drawings, both layout and detail. 

  • Experience in labor time estimating. 

  • General knowledge of how conveyor systems are installed and operated. 

  • Detail oriented and self motivated. 

  • Able to handle more than one task or job at a time. 

  • Computer skills including: Manufacturing systems, ACAD, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create ‘work order masters’ for all manufactured parts produced in the plant from engineering drawings.  This includes production cut lists, material lists, routings, paint color and estimated labor times for parts.

  • Generate work orders from ‘work order masters’ for all manufactured parts released to the manufacturing floor. 

  • Release parts in economical order quantities as determined by ship date and job requirement.

  • Update master schedule for all shippable manufactured and purchased parts shipping from the plant, and update work order information as released.

  • Create rework work orders when required.

  • Discuss engineering issues with the engineering department.  This includes problems or questions regarding layout drawings, standard and job specific detail drawings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and four to six (4-6) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
