Endpoint Security Engineer
The Endpoint Security Engineer is responsible for the deployment of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) to meet Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) requirements, the migration to Microsoft Defender Antivirus (MDAV), and broader adoption of Microsoft Intune as the central platform for endpoint configuration and compliance. Endpoint Security Engineer efforts will assist in providing NIH with a unified and defensible security perimeter, critical for protecting sensitive health data and enabling secure collaboration across ICs and external research partners.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
The ability to obtain, maintain and access classified information at the Public Trust level.
Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate or similar certification preferred.
Minimum of six (6) years experience supporting endpoint and enterprise security management.
Minimum of two (2) years proven experience in designing and implementing Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Antivirus deployments.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supports the creation of an enterprise rollout strategy by assisting in the development of detailed project plans deployment and configure Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Defender Antivirus across workstations and servers.
Supports installation and onboarding of MDE on Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints
Transitions endpoints from third-party AV tools to Microsoft Defender Antivirus
Ensures endpoints meet EDR compliance through policy enforcement and telemetry validation
Creates plans to transition the enterprise from disparate third-party antivirus tools (e.g., Cylance, Trellix, CrowdStrike) to the fully integrated Microsoft Defender solution
Centralizes antivirus capabilities to improve cost-efficiency, security, and operational simplicity
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or related field from an accredited educational institution. Minimum of six (6) years experience supporting endpoint and enterprise security management. Minimum of two (2) years proven experience in designing and implementing Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Antivirus deployments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $107K to $135K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
