The Research and Development (R&D) is a senior-level position within the R&D department. Provides specialized expertise and knowledge in a specific area of research or technology, guides and supports the organization's or customer's R&D efforts. May also be involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and decision-making related to R&D projects within their area of expertise.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.  

  • Must have a deep understanding of their field of expertise and possess scientific or technical knowledge with strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Specialized skills may be required, including but not limited to:

  • Technical writing

  • Test and Evaluation

  • Flight simulation and/or Aeromedical Research.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Develop standard operating procedures and guidelines to conduct the required research/test projects.

  • Lead development of work plans, proposals, budgets, agreements, products (report, presentation, etc.), and lead junior technicians to accomplish goals of assigned projects.

  • Understands how to execute techniques, procedures, and plans to meet requirements of quality standards.

  • Ensure records are kept of all laboratory procedures and project data, data analyses, and analytical conclusions of analyses in government-authorized notebooks and electronic systems in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.

  • Plans and executes research/test projects or experiments. 

  • Designs and conducts test methodologies. 

  • Collects and analyzes data using various scientific or technical methods. 

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives. 

  • Documents experimental procedures, results, and observations accurately. 

  • Troubleshoots technical issues and proposes solutions. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree with three to six (3-6) years of experience or a master’s degree with one to five (1-5) years of experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
