The Security Assistant will assist in maintaining the overall safety and security within the agency and assist in the timely dissemination of security information throughout all departments.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS  

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.  

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the followingOther duties may be assigned. 

 

Ensures compliance with all security directives.  

 

Ensures all Federal and Contractor employees receive the required training and maintain the training records. Maintains a current authorized classifiers and de-classifiers listing.  

 

Assists in preparing requests for deviations to security directives and obtains approvals prior to submission.  

 

Assists with the preparation of a facility security plan and coordinates an initial visit by Security Team.  

 

Completes self-assessments of all applicable program elements. 

 

Assists with the implementation of security-related procedures to include control and handling of classified material and management of Limited or Vault type rooms. 

 

Assists in processing access authorizations, and registration prior to submission to Office of Personnel Security.  

 

Reviews classified visits, foreign visits and assignments and foreign travel requests. Conducts investigations when necessary.  

 

Tracks and Reports Federal and Contractor staff security infractions.  

 

Tracks Federal compliance with security training (Annual Security Refresher Briefing). 

 

Attends all security-related meetings. 

 

Assists with inventory and control of security facilities and equipment (i.e., location and identification, of all Limited/Vault type rooms, containers, copiers, computers, VTC systems or other secured telecommunications equipment, facsimiles, and shredders). 

 

Assists with in and out processing of staff.  

 

Assists in initiating applicants for security clearances and security badges by administering the electronic questionnaire and providing follow-up.  

 

Assists with FACTS data entry for Foreign National Unclassified Visits and assignments.  

 

Assists in reviewing clearance related forms completed by employee for completeness prior to submission.  

 

Assists with acquiring badges, badge turn-ins, debriefings and account terminations. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Associate's degree and a minimum of at least five (5) year experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.      

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focusExposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $21 to $25, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
