FOIA Specialist
The FOIA Specialist is responsible for processing and conducting research and analysis related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). This position reviews and processes pending, complex FOIA cases and prepares documentation for, and drafts responses to FOIA requests.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Receives new hard copy FOIA requests, upload information into CBP’s official online (“SecureRelease”) FOIA tracking system and triage them to ensure they are sufficient.
Signs a DHS/CBP confidentiality, non-disclosure agreement.
Completes the intake processing work of reviewing and assigning FOIA requests.
Answer calls from requesters asking about the status of their FOIA request.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two to five (2-5) years of relevant experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $55K to $85K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
