FOIA Analyst - Public Trust Tier IV

The FOIA Analyst is responsible for processing and responding to requests for information made under the Freedom of Information Act. Plays a critical role in facilitating transparency and accountability by processing and responding to FOIA requests. Ensures that the organization complies with legal requirements, protects sensitive information, and provides access to public records as mandated by the Freedom of Information Act.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust – Tier IV High-Risk Background Investigation clearance.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test as required by the federal government.

  • High School Diploma, four-year degree preferred and 2 years relevant experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, FIPS, FIRST, FOIAXpress, FOIAOnline, Relativity (preferred)

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Receives, reviews, and analyzes new FOIA requests and determine if they are sufficient to process based on the FOIA and/or PA.

  • Conducts record searches and apply lawful exemptions and redactions.

  • Releases responsive records to requesters within prescribed timeframes.

  • Provides information on FOIA, and Client FOIA procedures and processes to employees and FOIA requesters.

  • Assists FOIA specialists in implementing privacy policies and procedures.

  • Processes records in response to litigation requests, with same deliverables as non-litigation requests.

  • Receives new FOIA requests and triage them (reviewing and assigning) to ensure they are sufficient.

  • Processes complex FOIA requests by conducting record searches, reviewing, organizing, and analyzing search results, applying for lawful exemptions, and redacting responsive records in compliance with FOIA policy and established program procedures and practices; and

  • Releases redacted responsive records to the requester, researching and analyzing sensitive classified and controversial data in order to make pertinent FOIA determinations, and evaluating various correspondence and reports to determine FOIA applicability and associated policies.

  • Arrives on time, adheres to assigned schedule, and communicate any absences, tardiness, or early departures in advance as applicable.

  • Cultivates and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, team members, and business partners.

  • Participates in meetings, networking events, and client reviews to strengthen professional connections.

  • Completes all required corporate training, including but not limited to ethics, compliance, security, and safety training.

  • Stays current on federal contracting regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.

  • Ensures compliance with all client and company procedures and federal laws applicable to the role.

  • Responds promptly to company-wide communications and requests.

  • Attends corporate meetings, briefings, and participates in team initiatives as requested.

  • Maintains accurate records, documentation, and reporting as required by corporate policies and federal regulations.

  • Provides timely updates to management regarding project status, budget, and issues that may affect the company's success.

  • Supports and contributes to corporate initiatives, including quality improvement, efficiency efforts, and other cross-functional projects as requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma, four-year degree preferred and 2 years relevant experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range contingent upon the award or funding for this role is $96K to $120K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
