An Air Force Logistics SME specializing in USAF (Air Force Sustainment Center) supply chain and maintenance operations, provides high-level expertise in systems, processes, and data management within the Air Force's sustainment and logistics infrastructure. Analyzes complex operational data, designs optimized processes, and collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective supply chain and maintenance functions.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex data, develop actionable insights, and design process improvements that drive operational efficiencies and enhance mission effectiveness. 

  • In-depth knowledge of USAF logistics, maintenance, and sustainment processes, with a deep understanding of system interdependencies and cross-functional coordination. 

  • Strong experience in process design, improvement, and optimization within a military or defense logistics environment. 

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, technical teams, contractors, and external partners. 

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to solve complex problems and provide data-driven recommendations. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while also leading teams to achieve program goals. 

  • Prior experience working with or within the Air Force Sustainment Center or other Department of Defense (DoD) entities is strongly preferred. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Serves as a senior expert on USAF supply chain and maintenance systems, processes, and data, providing specialized guidance to senior leadership and stakeholders on best practices and strategic initiatives. 

  • Analyzes and optimizes USAF processes, utilizing a deep understanding of USAF’s supply chain and maintenance operations to improve overall system efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance mission readiness. 

  • Leads the design and implementation of new or improved supply chain and maintenance processes, ensuring they align with USAF’s mission, policies, and operational goals. 

  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including USAF leadership, engineers, analysts, IT teams, contractors, and vendors, to ensure that solutions are aligned with operational needs and requirements. 

  • Provides strategic insights and actionable recommendations based on in-depth data analysis, identifying areas for improvement and developing process design strategies that drive continuous improvement. 

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of USAF systems and technologies, ensuring that processes are designed to leverage current and future capabilities within the Air Force's sustainment framework. 

  • Serves as a liaison between USAF leadership and operational teams, ensuring alignment across different functions and seamless communication on system and process requirements. 

  • Identifies key performance indicators (KPIs) and other relevant metrics to assess the effectiveness of supply chain and maintenance processes, offering data-driven recommendations for process optimization. 

  • Leads cross-functional teams in developing and executing process redesign efforts, ensuring successful integration of new processes with existing USAF systems and operations. 

  • Provides training and mentorship to junior analysts and operational teams on best practices, process design methodologies, and the effective use of USAF systems. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, APICS) are highly preferred and six to ten (6-10) years of experience in USAF supply chain and maintenance operations, with a strong understanding of USAF systems, technologies, and processes. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
