SUMMARY
The Research and Development (R&D) Associate is responsible for assisting in the development and improvement of products, processes, or technologies within an organization. They work closely with a team of scientists, engineers, or technicians to conduct experiments, analyze data, and contribute to the overall R&D efforts for the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) aeromedical research and development. This position is 100% onsite in Fort Novosel, AL.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one to two (1-2) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Must have scientific or technical knowledge in their field of expertise. They should also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as good communication and teamwork abilities.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform laboratory procedures, testing, research activities, and other tasks in fields such as experimental psychology, sensory neurosciences, aeromedical research, or other scientific discipline.
Demonstrate experience with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Assist with developing standard operating procedures and guidelines to conduct the required research projects.
Develop research work plans, data collection logistics, and analyses to accomplish the goals of the projects assigned.
Reads, understands, and executes techniques and procedures within the quality standards and timelines prescribed by the research plan.
Records all laboratory procedures and research project data, data analyses, and conclusions of analyses in government-authorized notebooks and electronic systems in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
Perform a variety of scientific and administrative tasks, with a certain degree of creativity and latitude expected.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one to two (1-2) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
