SUMMARY
The Research Technician IV is a highly experienced and senior-level position within a research laboratory or scientific setting. They provide expert technical support and assistance in conducting complex experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Research Technician IVs often have extensive knowledge and expertise in their field of research. A Research Technician IV may also be involved in project management, data management, or contributing to the development of research proposals in support of USAARL in Fort Novosel, AL.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Must have a deep understanding of scientific principles and advanced technical skills relevant to their field of research.

Possess extensive experience in conducting complex experiments, analyzing data, and using sophisticated laboratory equipment. Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are essential.
Effective communication, leadership abilities, and mentoring skills are also important for guiding junior technicians and collaborating with other team members.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Designing, planning, and executing advanced research experiments or studies.
Developing and optimizing experimental protocols or methodologies.
Setting up and operating sophisticated laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials.
Conducting experiments following established protocols and procedures.
Collecting, recording, and analyzing complex data using advanced scientific techniques and software.
Assisting in the interpretation and analysis of research findings.
Training, mentoring, and supervising junior research technicians or laboratory assistants.
Providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members or researchers.
Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
Ordering and managing laboratory supplies, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
Assisting in the preparation of research reports, presentations, or publications.
Collaborating with other team members or researchers on projects.
Troubleshooting technical issues and proposing innovative solutions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
