SUMMARY

A Statistician IV is a highly experienced and senior-level position within the field of statistics. They have extensive expertise in statistical analysis, research design, and data interpretation. Statisticians at this level often lead complex and high-impact projects, provide strategic guidance at an organizational level, and may have managerial or leadership responsibilities in support of USAARL in Fort Novosel, AL.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship. 

Master's degree and a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Specialized skills may be required, including computer programming (e.g., MATLAB, SIMULINK, C++, SPSS, machine vision, AI or expert systems development) and engineering such as mechanical, optical, acoustical, and/or biomedical. 

Must have an exceptional understanding of advanced statistical concepts, methods, and software tools.

Must possess outstanding analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex data accurately.

Effective communication skills are crucial for presenting findings to stakeholders or clients, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and providing guidance to junior statisticians.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the followingOther duties may be assigned. 

Provide direct support to the Principal Investigator and support staff in the conduct of research.  

 

Provides direct support in the general fields of applied mathematics or statistics with special emphasis in such areas as linear systems analysis, image processing, computer modeling, algorithm development, regression analysis, parametric and non-parametric statistics, probability, or matrix algebra. 

 

Develop and/or utilize mathematical concepts or principles that describe the functioning of physical or biological systems and use these concepts and principles to develop complex models that describe biological and/or physical systems with data driven outputs that can be evaluated and compared to empirical data or statistical metrics.  

 

Develops test procedures and data collection techniques necessary to execute project goals. 

 

Supports the acquisition, analysis, and evaluation of data gathered during research or modeling and assures the accuracy and complete documentation of protocol execution. 

 

Supports the preparation of protocols and reports, presentations, papers, and other documentation on research progress and findings.  

 

Minimally rely on instructions and guidelines to perform the functions of the job, including, but not limited to, relevant standard operating procedures, national standards of research technical accuracy, and/or other written guidelines provided.  

 

Reads, understands, and executes techniques and procedures within the quality standards and timelines prescribed by the research plan.  

 

Record all laboratory procedures, research project data, and results in government-authorized notebooks and electronic systems in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master's degree and a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
