CNI Announces First 5 Commercial Electronic Health Record Products at HIMSS Conference
On March 7, 2018, Chickasaw Health Consulting, LLC joined with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS) to announce the first 5 commercial electronic health record (EHR) software products recognized by the Immunization Integration Program—a Program carried out by Chickasaw Health Consulting and CNI Advantage, LLC over five years under a contract with CDC. HIMSS joined the project as a subcontractor two years ago.
The announcement is a critical milestone for the Program, as it signifies that the immunization-related software capabilities developed under Chickasaw Nation Industries Health and Human Capital Division’s contracts with CDC are now making their way into the commercial market—and into the hands of practicing clinicians to support better health and better care for patients.
The Immunization Integration Program advances the integration of immunization-related capabilities within EHRs and other clinical software by driving consensus on priority immunization-related software capabilities and then moving them into the marketplace by offering voluntary software testing and recognition through an independent Program set up by HIMSS and the Drummond Group—an independent testing lab. Having such capabilities within commercial software used by clinicians is expected to improve both clinical and patient decision-making and support information sharing between EHRs and immunization registries.
In addition to the panel discussion held in conjunction with the announcement, the Chickasaw Health Consulting Team also participated in another Program-related educational session on March 6, 2018.
The HIMSS18 conference and exhibition brings together more than 45,000 health information technology (IT) professionals from around the globe for five days of education, innovation, and collaboration.
