The Inventory Control Specialist encompasses the various tasks and management associated with Operations and Management of material handling, storage, accountability and assignment. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the designated requirements for various locations within the CENTCOM Region (OCONUS). This position may include associated hazard pay and deployment rotation support. The Inventory Control Specialist works in a team environment, coordinating responsibilities for reporting, briefing and operational management.


Essential position duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operates within a Warehouse or Material Control facility located in multiple OCONUS - CENTCOM locations.

Processes inventories, surveys, and warehousing documents, as well as, performing prescribed load lists and shop stock list duties in manual and automated supply applications.

Prepares, annotates and distributes shipping documents in addition to breaking down and distributing field rations.

Conducts location surveys performed in accordance with established procedures. Directs the correction of location survey discrepancies, as well as, assisting unit intermediate maintenance personnel in planning a maintenance program.

Demonstrates capacity for paperwork administration to include maintaining stock records, inventory records, material control, accounting and supply reports.

Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain both automated and manual accounting records, posting receipts and performing dues-ins and dues-out accounting tasks.

Performs documentation management in direct support level through the warehousing section.

Instructs warehouse personnel in loading, unloading, segregation, pelleting and selection of stock and storage areas.

Performs property disposal storage functions and ensures the application of special procedures for handling, storing, packaging and shipping retrograde material.

Retrieves and analyzes the history and activity files pertinent to system-rejected documents. Also, recommends additions and deletions to authorized stocking list.

Maintains accounting records of property disposal activity, as well as, performing reviews requests for major and controlled items.

Reconciles monthly and quarterly activities on records, reporting and status reviews.

Processes data inquiry and manager referred listings to manage all controlled, critical and reserve stocks and operational readiness and financial management functions.

Processes outputs from a catalog inquiry program and documents modifiers and special cancellation requests.

Conducts store functions to include stock replenishment, price changes, inventories, security and stock receipt, in addition to overseeing the construction of displays.

Prepares reports on labor and equipment, available storage space, relocation of material, warehouse refusals and stock requirements.

Responsible for the clear and professional communication, reporting and records controls within the CNI Program Management System. Cross-departmental communication and coordination is expected.


Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.


High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with at least five (5) years’ relevant working experience. Record of On-Job-Training showing stock controls and accounting procedures, as well as, procedures for shipping, receiving, storing, issuing and stock controls and accounting procedures. Additional experience preferred with movement, storage and maintenance of control items like ammunition and the procedures for handling medical and food supplies. Preferred experience operating in an OCONUS function relevant to the position requirement. Preferred experience operating in an austere environment in a deployment setting.


This position requires possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Applicable Training in the field of warehousing and inventory controls

US Citizens only due to government or federal requirement

Must have a valid Passport (not expiring within next 6 months)

Must pass a health examination / physical and obtain the proper vaccinations, as needed


Excellent customer service skills with ability to apply good listening skills and to handle unusual or complex situations with a calm and focused approach

Basic knowledge and understanding of computer technology and related tools (i.e., tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.)

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, etc.)

Detailed oriented to identify and correct any errors and exception documents, in addition to reviewing and verifying quantities received against bills of lading, contracts, purchase requests and shipping documents

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with ability to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals

Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and coworkers, as well as a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds

Ability to respond to requests in a professional, helpful and timely manner

Ability to use tact in handling difficult individuals and/or situations

Solid critical thinking skills with ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems / issues

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Works in an austere environment. Unloading, unpacking, visually inspecting, counting, segregating, pelletizing and storing incoming supplies and equipment in addition to maintaining the stock locator system and administering document control procedures. Repair and construct fiberboard or wooden containers as well as bins, shelving and all sorts of storage aids in order to pack, crate, stencil, weigh and band equipment and supplies. Ability to lift at least fifty pounds and utilize applicable belt lifts and/or small wheel forklifts. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform successfully the essential functions of this job. May be exposed to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, occasionally above head. Regularly required to twist at the waist, climb and descend stairs while carrying objects. Ability to speak and hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Works near moving mechanical parts. Regularly exposed to general office and general office machinery noise. May be exposed to warehouse, truck or forklift noise.
