The Air Traffic Controller (ATC) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the designated requirements for any one location in a CENTCOM region. The Air Traffic Controller (ATC) coordinates and assurance to the operational movements of air traffic and the accountability to the requirements of airfield specific SOPs and reporting is accurate.

 

Must possess and the ability to maintain a Secret Clearance.

 

Must possess a valid Passport.

 

Must pass a health examination and obtain the proper vaccinations as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Leading all air traffic between altitude sectors and control centers according to established procedures and policies. Responsible for working in conjunction with and coordination with site-specific cross-function teams for airfield operations. Authorize, regulate, and control military and commercial airline flights according to government or company regulations to expedite and ensure flight safety.

 

Responsible for reporting and briefing to the CNI Project Manager and/or other designated Site Lead or other host client.

 

Responsible for monitoring, transmitting, and receiving all ATC frequencies, and will document any unauthorized use of the ATC frequency.

 

Directs movement of airfield vehicles and equipment on runaways.

 

Checks and confirms flight plans.

 

Give pilots clearance for takeoff or landing.

 

Direct the movement of aircraft and other traffic on runways and other parts of the airport.

 

Responsible for the communication with adjacent terminal and enroute facilities and specified airfield/installation agencies/staff.

 

Responsible for management and maintenance of all recorded records IAW AR 95-2 and TC 3-04.81 and any additional established SOPs, Doctrine and Regulatory bodies.

 

Responsible for activation of the PCAS after receiving notification of an aircraft emergency, accident, or incident.

 

Responsible for providing routine weather observation augmenting fixed based weather observations. This includes identifying and reporting weather elements that are considered operationally significant.

 

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.

 

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Undergraduate/Bachelor Degree

 

Graduate of a US military ATC or FAA Academy and at least 2-4 years of experience performing ATC Tower Duties.

 

Previous experience operating in a DOD/OCONUS function relevant to the position requirement.

 

Previous experience operating in an austere environment in a deployment setting.

 

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

Possess a current Control Tower Operator Certification

 

Qualified for Controller in Charge Program/Certification

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
