Systems Engineer - Data Center
The Systems Engineer provides Data Center support to the Tinker Air Force Base (TAFB), 72d Air Base Wing Communications Directorate (72d ABW/SC), Core Server Support Services (CSSS) Contract. This position applies security to systems, facilitates system acquisitions, engages in lifecycle management and integrates complex systems, collects/analyzes performance data, conducts trend analyses and resolves outages and issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Participates in the development of test strategies.
Solves engineering problems (or manages the solution of engineering problems) in the functional area to which assigned.
Applies a number of diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve difficult issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures.
Coordinates various phases of work with other functional disciplines and interpret/translate engineering requirements into design characteristics and criteria.
Helps plan, analyze, and evaluate engineering and technical efforts used to define system/subsystem requirements, translates requirements into design criteria, assess alternative design approaches, and develops system specifications.
Helps identify human factors necessary to operate, maintain, support, and control equipment/systems during the basic design and development stages.
Analyzes system/equipment to ensure it is operational when needed.
Helps determine the means to advance projects and evaluates significant modifications to production methods or materials due to changes in requirements, technological advances, or shortcomings in design and/or performance.
Evaluates and recommends procedures and innovative techniques and methods.
Helps manage program risk and recommend steps to mitigate unacceptable risk throughout the life cycle.
Develops, in support of engineering reviews and/or panels, evaluations and technical justifications of feasibility.
Presents briefings and develop technical reports to document progress and results.
Analyzes and studies performance requirements against a wide range of diverse considerations, including safety and human factors, technical risks, functionality, reliability, failure analysis, quality assurance, cost, and environmental impact.
Assists in the evaluation of technology, components, and systems by developing evaluation criteria, performing evaluations, and documents results.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of systems engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Experience with storage related hardware and software preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience with Data Center Services Management
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Possesses or has the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
A current CompTIA Security + certification is required with enrollment into the CE program
MCSA or MCSE certification preferred

Good level of knowledge about Data Center Operation and Management procedures
Good level of knowledge about data center power distribution and cooling systems
