Management Analyst I
The Management Analyst I supports activities of the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN by performing analysis and advisory assignments related to the effectiveness of programs and/or the efficiency of the management of operations. This position conducts studies, prepares reports, assesses work processes / procedures, and handles a variety of administrative and special projects, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reports directly to the Office of Management (OM). Supports other CFSAN program offices, as needed, returning to the OM upon completion of assignments.
Supports a variety of CFSAN operational programs. Conducts studies, performs research, analyzes findings, and devises recommendations. Prepares applicable reports and correspondence. Develops PowerPoint presentations and briefings related to findings and recommendations.
Executes assignments in a manner that supports the objectives of the program. Assists with the planning, organizing and coordination of projects.
Helps to coordinate communications, including CFSAN All-Hands emails and intranet pages.
Researches current or new management practices for application to programs or operations. Studies proposed legislation and/or regulations for impact on programs.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Specific experience to government or industry may be considered in lieu of education requirement. This position requires the ability to accurately type 40 WPM. A background in chemistry and/or biology and related research methodologies is helpful but not required.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
