Electrical / Electronics Engineer
This Electrical / Electronics Engineer supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Airspace Systems (NAS). Power Transmission Services program by analyzing and testing electronic system performance and power transmission capabilities, as well as produces engineering prototypes, studies and technical documentation for various FAA technologies, workstations, terminals and electrical subsystems. Additionally, this position requires the ability to conduct onsite, hands-on testing and evaluation of entire systems, as well as troubleshooting and providing solutions for future design improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties maybe assigned.

Works closely with the FAA Technical Director and team to identify and complete required electrical engineering tasks and feasibility studies of proposed systems and modifications.
Applies engineering principles to analyze and test system performance and to produce engineering prototypes, studies and technical documentation.
Fabricates, tests, installs and designs corrections of FAA approved electrical and power transmission capability modification kits, if needed.
Analyzes facility and workstation electrical system power supplies and availability. Makes recommendations as to power system upgrades, modifications and installations.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description. and Supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize output. Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.
Will relay any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and Human Resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum.
A degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field such as physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology may be substituted in lieu of the engineering degree, depending on other qualifications, and length and type of specialized experience.
Specialized advanced degrees appropriate to the field of technology may be substituted for a limited portion of the experience requirements. Specialized engineering experience on NAS systems and equipment is highly desirable. Experience in developing, revising, testing and maintaining hardware, software, and associated documentation applied to LAN is required based on position level.
Electrical / Electronics Engineer – Level 6: Required degree and minimum of 15 years relevant experience
Electrical / Electronics Engineer – Level 5: Required degree and minimum of 12 years relevant experience
Electrical / Electronics Engineer – Level 4: Required degree and minimum of 9 years relevant experience
Electrical / Electronics Engineer – Level 3: Required degree and minimum of 6 years relevant experience
Electrical / Electronics Engineer – Level 2: Required degree and minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Electrical / Electronics Engineer – Level 1: Required degree
Experience analyzing and testing electronic power transmission system performance and in producing engineering prototypes, studies and technical documents required. Experience with standby and emergency power systems, as well as critical power systems and equipment (i.e., engine generators, three-phase transfer switches, uninterruptible power systems, etc.) preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Ability to pass an FAA background investigation to work in a position of Public Trust
Must be U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder due to government or federal requirement

Working knowledge of three-phase AC electrical power generation, protective relaying and control systems, distribution and low voltage metal clad switch gears
