The Database Developer provides database and SSRS reporting solutions support for the Chickasaw Nation Industries (CNI), Federal Services LLC, corporate office. This position designs, develops and implements database and SSRS reporting solutions using the Microsoft SQL Server environment.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Works with the guidance of a senior database developer, customer, and project manager to modify existing systems and develop or modify SSRS reports.

 

Develops and implements Microsoft SQL Server based solutions. Designs and maintains transactional databases.

 

Works with native storage and indexes for XML content that can be structured, semi-structured and unstructured.

 

Develops and implements SSRS reports. Modifies current reports stored procedures and report structure.

 

Utilizes xQuery/xPath and XSLT for manipulation of content.

 

Ensures all database systems meet customer and performance requirements.

 

Diagnoses and resolves database access and performance issues.

 

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

 

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. 

 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers.  Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources.  Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study and a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience.  Must have prior experience in leading technical deliverables.

 

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Working knowledge of database concepts, object and data modeling techniques and design principles

In-depth knowledge of SQL - indexes, normalization, schemas, stored procedures, and triggers

Strong technical and functional knowledge in SQL Server DB with extensive XML experience 

Hands-on knowledge with query and manipulation of the content using xQuery/xPath and XSLT

Knowledge in building interfaces between external applications with SQL Databases

Excellent documentation and verbal / written communication skills

Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to coordinate efforts with others for the effective achievement of goals

Detail oriented with ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks

Ability to escalate issues in a timely manner

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professiona1journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
