SUMMARY 
The Senior Project Lead - Query-Litigation leads a team providing professional documentation search assistance to the Office of Historical Trust Accounting (OHTA). The OHTA provides historical accountings of Individual Indian Money (IIM) accounts and litigation support for trust fund related litigation filed by Indian tribes against the United States. Leads a project and team focused on identifying, locating and securing available data/records necessary to conduct and support historical accounting efforts. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.   

 

Leads a project focused on identifying, locating and securing available data / records necessary to conduct and support historical accounting efforts. 

 

Runs queries and analyzes critical information related to historical accountings of Individual Indian Money (IIM) accounts and trust fund related litigation filed by Indian tribes. 

 

Works with multiple historical accounting systems in the thorough analysis, reporting and archival of historical accounting information. 

 

Produces delivery ready reports for use in information and settlement meetings.   

 

Follows established processes for archiving and retaining work products. 

 

Analyzes litigation Requests for Production and Interrogatories to determine potentially responsive documents and identify query criteria for documents needed. 

Creates, saves, modifies and runs Microsoft Access and SQL Server queries, including storing and analyzing query results in Microsoft Access and exporting certain fields of data, sometimes from different tables in Access to Excel spreadsheets. 

Travel may be required. 

 

Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. 

 

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.   

 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers.  Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources.  Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one (1) year Team Lead Experience and two (2) years’ Supervisory experience, technical experience related to document search and systems that would have produced these documents; or equivalent combination of education / experience.  Experience in Indian Trust Accounting or document search. Experience in database creation, management, and database queries in Microsoft Access and SQL Server. 

 

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATION 

Must be able to obtain a customer clearance for access to facilities, equipment and property (Public trust clearance). 

 

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES 

Knowledgeable in preservation and recall of historical account data records. 

Proficient knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, federal regulations and guidelines. 

Working knowledge in application of government accounting standards, including cash and accrual accounting. 

Ability to meet project deadlines, have flexibility in changing project direction, and ability to maintain different projects at the same time. 

Adept in data analysis and data reporting skills with solid systems and process orientation skills.  

Excellent Microsoft Office skills with proficiency in SQL, Microsoft Access, VBA and Microsoft Excel, as well as ability to quickly grasp specialized automated systems. 

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with ability to produce professional accounting and financial reports. 

Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. 

Excellent customer service skills with ability to be self-motivated.  

Extremely detail-oriented with ability to quickly grasp business needs and issues.  

Working knowledge of accounting records management and filing processes. 

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment toward the successful achievement of goals. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and coworkers.   

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
